Therapy That Goes Beyond Talk: Why AEDP Helped Me Find What Was Missing

Therapy That Goes Beyond Talk

You’re smart. Insightful. You’ve talked through your story before. And yet, something still doesn’t feel resolved.

When AEDP Landed for Me

In my first session with my AEDP therapist, Tiana, I experienced something that changed how I think about healing.

I felt wave after wave of gratitude—not because we uncovered something intellectually profound, but because I could feel how present she was with me. Her attunement allowed me to stay with that wave all the way to completion. On the other side, I felt a sense of expansiveness I hadn’t known was possible. At first, it felt brand new—and then I realized… it wasn’t. That sense of spaciousness and connection had always been with me. It just needed the right conditions to reemerge.

Many people come to therapy looking for relief from anxiety, trauma, or a persistent sense of disconnection. Often, they've tried traditional talk therapy, gained insight—but still feel stuck. That was true for me too, both as a therapist and a human being. It wasn’t until I encountered AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) that something deeper began to shift. In this post, I want to share why AEDP felt like coming home, and how it might offer the kind of healing you didn’t even know was possible.

When Insight Isn’t Enough

You can understand why you feel anxious or overwhelmed and still feel that way. Many of my clients have done a lot of personal work. They've read the books, meditated, maybe even been in therapy before—and yet something still feels out of reach. They're smart, self-aware, and still struggling.

That's not a failure. It's that some wounds don't just live in the mind—they live in the body, in the nervous system, and in our relational patterns. Insight alone doesn’t unwind those places. But something else can.

AEDP: A Different Kind of Therapy

AEDP isn't just about talking—it’s about experiencing. It’s about being deeply seen, felt, and met in a way that helps you access emotions that may have been buried for years—not to rehash pain, but to heal it. It’s grounded in neuroscience, attachment theory, and a belief in your innate capacity to heal.

In AEDP, we go gently and bravely into those places that hold pain or protectiveness—and we don’t go alone. One of the most powerful parts of AEDP is that we do this work together, in relationship. That co-regulation and attunement helps shift things on a core level.

Why This Matters for Trauma, Anxiety, and Disconnection

If you've ever felt like therapy wasn’t going deep enough, or like you could explain your issues but not feel different, AEDP might be the missing piece. Clients often tell me things like, “This feels different,” or “I finally feel like I’m not just managing—I’m actually healing.”

AEDP helps rewire old survival patterns and bring you back to your core self—the part of you that’s steady, capable of connection, and deeply alive.

My Integrative Approach: EMDR, Psychedelic Therapy, and AEDP

In my practice in Colorado Springs, Loveland, and online across Colorado, I use AEDP as the foundation—but I also integrate EMDR for trauma reprocessing and support clients working with psychedelics or ketamine. Whether you're navigating anxiety, PTSD, or a life transition, we tailor our work to meet you.

This isn’t cookie-cutter therapy. It’s therapy that meets you where you are—and walks with you toward who you're becoming.
